French Quarter
The most recognized backdrop in the city. Couples exchange vows on the flagstones or just outside the cathedral gates, with street musicians and mule-drawn carriages part of the scene.
Cathedral spires behind you, plus carriage and Pontalba portraits a few steps away.
Public space — best in the morning or late afternoon when the square is calmer.
French Quarter
Brick walls, fountains, banana trees and wrought iron make a private courtyard the classic New Orleans elopement setting. Many hotels and guest houses in the Quarter have one.
Soft, shaded light all day — forgiving for portraits even at noon.

French Quarter / CBD
A rooftop ceremony gives you skyline and river views without a long walk. Couples have married on the Omni Royal rooftop and other Quarter hotel terraces.

Woldenberg & Moon Walk
Open riverside promenades with steamboats passing behind you. An easy walk from Jackson Square, so it pairs well with a Quarter ceremony.
Wide-open sky, river and steamboat backdrops.
Windy at times — a good option for couples who want an unfussy outdoor setting.
Garden District
Historic mansions, oak-lined streets and the St. Charles streetcar. A quieter, greener alternative to the Quarter for ceremonies and portraits.
Streetcar, iron fences and grand porches within a few blocks.
Pairs well with a Quarter ceremony for a second portrait location.
Mid-City
Live oaks, lagoons, bridges and the sculpture garden — the most natural setting in the city and a favorite for couples who want greenery instead of streetscape.
Mossy oaks and stone bridges; lovely in soft morning light.
Dog friendly ceremonies are especially easy here.
